NO WIRE HANGERS, EVER!

Happy Halloween!  Ok, ok, I’m a couple days late, but better late than never!  I ended up going to two parties this year, so of course I had to have two different costumes.  The first party was on the 30th and I had needed a quick costume, so I went through my closets and came up with this:

A representation of the grungy 90s!  What screams grunge more than a flannel, baby doll dress, ripped tights, combat boots, and a little barrette than that?!  Also that vintage hand beaded swan bag is one of my favorite finds.  (and yes, my friend is dressed up as Daisy of Love…)

As for Halloween, I went as one of my favorite characters of all time, Mommie Dearest.

I had to get the wire hanger in every picture possible.

….and Halloween wouldn’t be complete without some tasty treats!

Old-Fashioned Soft Pumpkin Cookies (Halloweenified!)

(adapted from here)

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

1/2 cup butter (1 stick), softened

1 cup Pure Pumpkin

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

chocolate chips!

GLAZE: COMBINE 2 cups sifted powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons milk, 1 tablespoon melted butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract in small bowl until smooth, (I added red food coloring for a bloody touch)

COMBINE flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in medium bowl. Beat sugar and butter in large mixer bowl until well blended. Beat in pumpkin, egg and vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto prepared baking sheets. BAKE for 15 to 18 minutes or until edges are firm. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely. Drizzle Glaze over cookies.

yummy, yummy glaze!
